Job Purpose:

The Department of Kinesiology and Sport Management within the School of Education at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA invites applications for a full-time, fixed-term faculty member at the rank of Lecturer-IR/AT to teach undergraduate courses within the Kinesiology program. As one of the fastest growing majors at Gonzaga University, the Kinesiology program is positioned for continued growth/expansion, and we are pursuing a candidate who will help us meet the evolving needs of our students. Possible teaching assignments may include but are not limited to: Motor Learning and Development, Exercise and Sport Psychology, Health and Wellness, Introduction to Kinesiology, and various lab courses within the program.


An essential aspect of this position will be supporting Kinesiology majors during their time at Gonzaga. This includes advising and mentoring students on both program-specific and university-wide requirements, as well as guiding them in their preparation for employment or continued education upon graduation.

Essential Functions:

  • Teach 24 semester credits over the course of the academic year
  • Collaborate with department and School of Education colleagues
  • Advise students within the Kinesiology program

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or a closely related field
  • Completed graduate coursework in Motor Learning and Development and Exercise and Sport Psychology

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in  Kinesiology, Exercise Science or a closely related field
    • ABD may be considered, with the expectation that the candidate will have their degree in hand by July 15, 2025
  • Teaching experience in higher education/evidence of teaching excellence
  • Student advising/mentoring experience
  • ACSM Exercise Physiologist Certification and/or NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist Certification
  • Experience working in laboratory settings
  • Ability to mentor and support students including students with diverse cultures, backgrounds, and experiences
