Job Purpose:
Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA seeks to fill a fixed term, full-time, 12- month position in the Foley Library for a liaison librarian with primary role to the School of Health Sciences and a secondary role in STEM. This position is a non-tenure track faculty at the rank of Lecturer-AT with possibility for advancement in rank. The position serves as liaison to the School of Health Sciences, as well as supporting and partnering with the STEM Liaison Librarian for collaboration and backup. In supporting the School of Health Sciences (https://www.gonzaga.edu/school-of-health-sciences), this liaison librarian provides research and scholarly communication support for faculty and students in the Gonzaga University programs of Nursing, Human Physiology, Public Health, and Doctoral Nursing Anesthesia, but also to the University of Washington School of Medicine-Gonzaga University Regional Health Partnership (https://www.gonzaga.edu/academics/health-partnership) and the WWAMI Regional Medical Education Program (https://www.uwmedicine.org/school-of-medicine/md-program/wwami).
This position will be responsible for cultivating a strong collaborative and consultative relationship with faculty and students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels through instruction, direct research consultation, collection development, and committee participation. The successful candidate will bring health science information and data literacy as well as familiarity with research and scholarly communication practices in the sciences to students and faculty. In addition, the librarian will serve as an academic advisor to a limited number of students in alignment with library practice and the Gonzaga University Faculty Handbook. Finally, professional and university service in the form of committee participation will be expected. As a non-tenure track position, this librarian will not have research or scholarship requirements though there is support for professional development or scholarly activity possible as a commitment to development across the library. As a member of the Foley Library faculty, this librarian will forward the library’s mission and values while actively contributing to the success of a diverse population of students. Though there is support for remote work as part of the regular schedule, Gonzaga University is committed to an on-campus experience. If hired, the candidate must be willing to relocate to the Spokane area.

• ALA-accredited Master’s Degree or the international equivalent (https://www.ala.org/educationcareers/employment/foreigncredentialing/forjobseekers) at the employment start date.
• Demonstrated commitment to issues of social justice, diversity, global engagement, and care for/solidarity with vulnerable and marginalized communities, in alignment with our University Mission (https://www.gonzaga.edu/about/our-mission-jesuit-values/mission-statement).
• Demonstrated knowledge of research and scholarly communication needs as well as library and data resources and tools in the sciences, esp. health sciences.
• Demonstrated knowledge of informed and inclusive instructional practices both in person and online environments (e.g., face-to-face, online, flipped, HyFlex).
• Ability to effectively communicate in multiple media (oral, textual, visual, etc.) and utilize interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
• Willingness to continue developing professionally as a librarian, an educator, and an academic.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working as a librarian in a health science setting.
• Experience working as an academic liaison librarian.
• Experience as an educator in online programs.
• Engagement with professional or scholarly associations in an active role.
• Experience with a range of scholarly communication processes (e.g., publishing, reviewing, editing, podcasting, blogging, video creation) and the considerations of them.
• Understanding of copyright law fundamentals and professional discourse regarding Fair Use and other contemporary considerations.
• Experience with research data management processes and tools.
