Job Purpose:

Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA seeks to fill a fixed term, full-time, 12- month position in the Foley Library for a liaison librarian with primary role to the School of Health Sciences and a secondary role in STEM. This position is a non-tenure track faculty at the rank of Lecturer-AT with possibility for advancement in rank. The position serves as liaison to the School of Health Sciences, as well as supporting and partnering with the STEM Liaison Librarian for collaboration and backup. In supporting the School of Health Sciences (https://www.gonzaga.edu/school-of-health-sciences), this liaison librarian provides research and scholarly communication support for faculty and students in the Gonzaga University programs of Nursing, Human Physiology, Public Health, and Doctoral Nursing Anesthesia, but also to the University of Washington School of Medicine-Gonzaga University Regional Health Partnership (https://www.gonzaga.edu/academics/health-partnership) and the WWAMI Regional Medical Education Program (https://www.uwmedicine.org/school-of-medicine/md-program/wwami).

This position will be responsible for cultivating a strong collaborative and consultative relationship with faculty and students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels through instruction, direct research consultation, collection development, and committee participation. The successful candidate will bring health science information and data literacy as well as familiarity with research and scholarly communication practices in the sciences to students and faculty. In addition, the librarian will serve as an academic advisor to a limited number of students in alignment with library practice and the Gonzaga University Faculty Handbook. Finally, professional and university service in the form of committee participation will be expected. As a non-tenure track position, this librarian will not have research or scholarship requirements though there is support for professional development or scholarly activity possible as a commitment to development across the library. As a member of the Foley Library faculty, this librarian will forward the library’s mission and values while actively contributing to the success of a diverse population of students. Though there is support for remote work as part of the regular schedule, Gonzaga University is committed to an on-campus experience.
