Job Purpose:
The Lab Coordinator coordinates the implementation of 12-14 sections of the BIOL 105L lab course each semester. This lab course is the Phage Discovery semester of the HHMI SEA-PHAGES research course in which students isolate, purify, and characterize bacteriophages that grow on a specific actinobacterial host. The Lab Coordinator hires, trains, and manages prep workers to prepare media, reagents, cultures, and lab materials, and prepare the lab spaces. They recruit, train, and manage undergraduate Teaching Assistants for each lab section. They coordinate curriculum delivery across all the sections, and they teach sections of BIOL 105L. They manage the archiving of bacteriophage lysates and data, and facilitate the genome sequencing of representative phages for annotation by students in BIOL 207L genetics lab.
Lab Coordinators, in general, provide a variety of teaching, curriculum support, lab setup and maintenance duties in support of laboratory courses and overall student learning. Lab Coordinators work with a variety of faculty and department staff for the efficient, effective and safe functioning of all labs in the department. Lab Coordinators teach assigned lab sections.

Skills & Abilities:
Specialist knowledge in microbiology.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience isolating, purifying, and culturing bacteria, and troubleshooting contaminated cultures.
Experience supervising student employees in a lab environment.

The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to offer for this position: $4,040 - $4,789 / month

Maximum Salary (Annualized 12 months and 40 hours/week): 72720
