Job Purpose:

The Department of Educational Leadership and Administration invites applications for the position of lecturer. This position will include teaching twelve credits each term, fall and spring. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of teaching and experience in on-line course design and facilitation. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be responsive to the needs of a diverse student body and will possess the skills necessary to provide students of all backgrounds an educational experience that acknowledges, honors, and supports their growth.

The Department of Educational Leadership and Administration offers a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Educational Leadership, Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership and Principal Certification program. Students enter these programs as experienced leaders within the K-12 educational system with a desire to transform educational settings through critical inquiry using reflective practices and engaged scholarship. Courses for the Ed. D and M.Ed. are offered online, and Principal Certification programs are conducted using a hybrid model.

Essential Functions:

  • Teach graduate level courses within Educational Leadership and Administration, equivalent of 24 credits per academic year.
  • Support doctoral and master’s candidates through inquiry and/or research projects
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Department, School of Education, and University
  • Support continuous development of our department faculty, processes, and programs in the practical and applied work deconstructing discriminatory hierarchies and social structures in PreK-12 school systems - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ed.D. or Ph.D. in Education or related field
    • ABD in related field may be considered, with expectation that the candidate will have degree in hand by July 15, 2025
  • Valid administrative credential (e.g., principal, superintendent)
  • Minimum of three years as a PreK-12 administrator
  • Demonstrated success teaching post-secondary learners
  • Record of emerging scholarship (e.g., publications, presentations, grant writing, product design, etc.)
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive teaching, research, and service through the demonstrated ability to work with, and be sensitive to, the educational needs of all students
  • Demonstrated commitment to Gonzaga’s mission

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in PreK-12 education at the building, district, regional, or state level
  • Recognized contributions to the field of PreK-12 education (e.g., awards, publications, grants, professional development initiatives, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to help others grow in their leadership capacity
  • Successful advisement of graduate students
  • Successful development of, and instruction in, online courses (e.g., trainings, graduate courses, etc.) through various modalities (e.g., online, face-to-face, hybrid)
  • History working with one or more of the following:
    • Schools with high levels of diverse learners
    • Schools with a diverse faculty and leadership structure
    • Indigenous pedagogies
    • Participatory or community-based research
    • Catholic or independent/private schools
