Job Purpose:

The Theatre Department of Gonzaga University seeks a guest director for the mainstage musical in our 25-26 Gonzaga Theatre season.
The position is a 3-credit adjunct contract.

Essential Functions:

• Leading the artistic team in a vision that can be executed within the means of the producing departments 
• Attending all design and production meetings; holding auditions and callbacks and casting the show in collaboration with the Artistic Director/Department Chair; scheduling and holding all necessary rehearsals 
• Hold office hours (amount determined in consultation with Department Chair) 
• Staging all components of the musical; collaborating with the Music Director, Choreographer, designers, and Production Manager and Artistic Director/Department Chair throughout the entire production process and preparing all elements for an on-time opening 
• Integrating the mission of Gonzaga Theatre and Gonzaga University with the subject matter of the show; fostering an appropriate educational setting while adhering to professional practices. 
• Submitting grades according to established deadlines 

Minimum Qualifications:

- M.A. (or equivalent) in Theatre, Acting, Directing, or similar.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness, including the ability to effectively respond to the academic needs of learners from diverse backgrounds.
- Evidence of the ability to use effective classroom strategies and pedagogies to advance equity, inclusion, and belonging.

In-Office Presence - Ability to work on-site in typical office setting and participate in in-person meetings with colleagues: 5 days/week
