Job Purpose:

Oversees recruitment and onboarding programs to ensure compliance with university policies, employment laws, and best practices while optimizing hiring procedures. Provides coaching, guidance, and support in daily operations, setting priorities, resolving escalated issues, and ensuring staffing needs are met. Collaborates with HR colleagues, hiring managers, and budget officers to facilitate effective communication and support throughout the hiring and onboarding process. Manages offer and negotiation processes by reviewing offers, securing approvals, and ensuring timely distribution of offer letters and onboarding paperwork. Continuously evaluates and improves recruitment and onboarding strategies by analyzing key metrics, monitoring industry trends, and implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and candidate experience.

Essential Functions:

  • 20% - Supervision
    • Provide coaching, guidance, and support in day-to-day operations, setting priorities, troubleshooting escalated issues, and ensuring staffing needs are met. 
  • 20% - Oversee Recruiting and Onboarding Programs
    • Ensure compliance with university policies, employment laws, and best practices while optimizing hiring and onboarding procedures.
    • Align processes with federal and state hiring laws, EEO/Affirmative Action, diversity initiatives, and Gonzaga’s mission.
    • Oversee onboarding activities, compliance training, and 90-day check-ins to ensure a positive and well-supported transition for new hires. 
  • 20% - Collaboration
    • Ensure effective communication and support to hiring managers, candidates, and new employees throughout the recruitment and onboarding process.
    • Work closely with HR colleagues, hiring managers, budget officers, and department heads to support hiring objectives and ensure smooth onboarding experiences.
  • 20% - Support Offer and Negotiation Processes
    • Assist in reviewing offers, gaining necessary approvals, and ensuring timely distribution of offer letters and onboarding paperwork. 
  • 10% - Improve Hiring Efficiency & Monitor Industry Trends
    • Evaluate recruiting and onboarding metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and candidate experience.
    • Stay updated on labor market conditions, hiring trends, and employment law changes, ensuring best practices in recruitment and onboarding.

Educational Requirement:

Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience

Years of Related Experience Requirement:

3 years

In lieu of the educational qualifications, candidates may qualify with equivalent professional experience at a ratio of one year of experience for each year of required education. 

Skills & Abilities:

Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word.
Excellent organizational skills.
Demonstrated time management, punctuality, and priority setting skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Knowledge of HR software and applicant tracking systems.
Proven experience in recruitment and employment law.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in HR (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR)

Physical & On-Campus Requirements:

In-Office Presence - Ability to work on-site in typical office setting and participate in in-person meetings with colleagues: 5 days/week

Standing/Sitting - Ability to remain in a stationary position for a prolonged period: Daily (>75% of time)

Walking - Ability to move about on foot to accomplish tasks: Daily (>75% of time)

Lifting/Carrying - Ability to move or transport objects up to a specified weight (e.g., 50 pounds): Often (50%-75% of time)

Attention to Detail - Ability to focus on detailed tasks for extended periods: Daily (>75% of time)

Problem-Solving - Ability to identify and resolve issues effectively: Daily (>75% of time)

The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to offer for this position: $80,000 - $90,000

Pay Range: 

Minimum Salary (Annualized 12 months and 40 hours/week): 79600

Midpoint Salary (Annualized 12 months and 40 hours/week): 99500

Maximum Salary (Annualized 12 months and 40 hours/week): 119400
