Job Purpose:

The Undergraduate Clinical Placement Manager works under direction of the Director of Undergraduate Programs and collaborates with the Director of Clinical Placement, Clinical Compliance Specialist, faculty, program coordinators, students, agencies, and clinical placement consortia to assure appropriate clinical educational experiences for Gonzaga University undergraduate nursing students. The Undergraduate Clinical Placement Manager manages and coordinates the identification of, scheduling for, and use of clinical facilities in collaboration with faculty and agencies to provide required clinical learning opportunities for undergraduate nursing students. Ensures completion and submission of agency-required documentation for students and faculty assigned to clinical practicum or capstone experiences within affiliated agencies. Coordinates clinical orientation and ensures student preparedness for the clinical experience This position will assist in the orientation of adjunct faculty & Dedicated Education Unit (DEU) preceptors. The Undergraduate Clinical Placement Manager is responsible for complex communication and problem solving to maintain and expand positive working relationships with a variety of contacts inside and outside the department and university.

Essential Functions:

  • 90% - Clinical Placement Management
    • Serve as a centralized information liaison for undergraduate nursing clinical partners.
    • Develop and manage relationships with hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and other clinical agency sites for undergraduate nursing students to complete clinical rotations and collaborate with faculty & program coordinators for site approval.
    • Develop innovative partnerships with agency educators, clinic managers, and leadership to provide educational experiences and cultivate relationships to source potential preceptors and adjunct faculty.
    • Ensures and monitors faculty and student compliance with state regulatory agencies (e.g., Washington State Nursing Commission), accrediting bodies, and clinical agency requirements.
    • Participate in statewide efforts to help develop and maintain a centralized web-based regional clinical placement system with clinical placement grids.
    • Attend CPNW meetings representing the nursing department, specifically the BSN program.
    • Prepare communication materials, represent the college at meetings, conduct outreach and give presentations with critical stakeholders as requested by department.
    • Collaborate with the faculty, Associate Deans and BSN Program Director and/or program coordinators regarding student, faculty and facility issues surrounding clinical on boarding and education.
    • Coordinate clinical scheduling of students and act as Liaison between clinical faculty, clinical preceptors and students.
    • Collaborate with the faculty, Associate Deans and BSN Program Director on recruitment and retention of clinical faculty.
    • Develop and compile statistics for current placements and long-range planning efforts.
    • Maintain a comprehensive agency partner contact list.
    • Assure agencies and the department meet contractual obligations.
    • Collaborate with program coordinators torganize new student and faculty training and orientations at clinical facilities. 
  • 10% - Operations & Administrative Duties
    • Respond to BSN student concerns regarding placements and/or troubleshoot clinical placement conflicts.
    • Participate in internal faculty and/or staff meetings.
    • Management of BSN clinical site evaluation and BSN clinical preceptor evaluation processes.
    • Conduct other duties as assigned by leadership.

Educational Requirement:

Bachelor's Degree

Years of Related Experience Requirement:

3 years

In lieu of the educational qualifications, candidates may qualify with equivalent professional experience at a ratio of one year of experience for each year of required education. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Registered Nurse license.
Demonstrated knowledge about cultural competence in academic and healthcare settings.
Demonstrated knowledge of the principles, practices, and methods of precepting in an undergraduate nursing education setting.
Demonstrated knowledge of BSN program objectives, course sequencing and individual course clinical requirements.
Experience working collaboratively with a variety of diverse stakeholders with energy and enthusiasm.

The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to offer for this position: $25.08 - $31.34

Pay Range:

Minimum Salary (Non-Exempt): 25.08

Midpoint Salary (Non-Exempt): 31.34

Maximum Salary (Non-Exempt): 37.61
