Salary: The salary is $1,485 per credit for MA/MS; $1,686 per credit for Ph.D. or Terminal Degree.

Job Purpose:

The Kinesiology and Sport Management Department in the School of Education at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, is seeking an American Red Cross CPR/First Aid Instructor to teach a 1-credit undergraduate course that certifies students in Adult and Pediatric CPR, First Aid and AED use.

Essential Functions:

  • Teach Red Cross–approved CPR, AED, and First Aid curriculum in accordance with American Red Cross Instructor standards and Gonzaga University academic expectations.
  • Evaluate student performance through skills assessments and written evaluations following Red Cross certification protocols.
  • Administer and process American Red Cross certification materials through the Red Cross Learning Center.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback and submit grades in alignment with Gonzaga’s academic policies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Current American Red Cross Instructor Certification
*Available for the specific weekends in the Spring semester to teach the course; Section 1 is Saturday and Sunday, February 28-March 1, 2026 and Section 2 is March 28-29, 2026. The course is 8:30 am - 4:30 pm on Saturdays and 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior teaching or training experience, ideally in a higher-education environment
Experience in Canvas
Additional Red Cross instructor credentials (e.g., CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, Basic Life Support)

Educational Requirement:

Bachelor's Degree

Physical & On-Campus Requirements:

In-Office Presence - Ability to work on-site in typical office setting and participate in in-person meetings with colleagues: 2 days/week

Standing/Sitting - Ability to remain in a stationary position for a prolonged period: Often (50%-75% of time)

Walking - Ability to move about on foot to accomplish tasks: Often (50%-75% of time)

Lifting/Carrying - Ability to move or transport objects up to a specified weight: Rarely (1%-49% of time)

Attention to Detail - Ability to focus on detailed tasks for extended periods: Daily (>75% of time)

Problem-Solving - Ability to identify and resolve issues effectively: Daily (>75% of time)
