Job Purpose:

The Center for Engineering, Design, & Entrepreneurship (CEDE) plays a vital role in the educational mission of the School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS). Its primary deliverable is the Senior Design experience, a required component for all SEAS students. The CEDE Program Manager reports to the Dean of SEAS and oversees both the daily operations and long-term strategic initiatives of CEDE. This role involves cultivating and maintaining strong professional relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, project sponsors, liaisons, and volunteers. The CEDE Program Manager ensures the center and its programs operate efficiently within budget while fostering innovative educational opportunities in design and entrepreneurship.

Essential Functions:

  • 35% - Project Coordination & Management
    • Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of all senior design projects across various engineering disciplines within SEAS. •Coordinate the activities of the CEDE Advisory Committee, which is comprised of a faculty Capstone Coordinator from each academic program in SEAS.
    • Develop and manage program timelines, milestones, and deliverables to ensure students meet key deadlines as outlined by their project.
    • Coordinate with Capstone Coordinators, faculty advisors, students, and external stakeholders to align project goals with learning outcomes.
    • The Program Manager teaches academic sessions regarding course logistics, major deliverables, and course due dates. Work with Capstone Coordinators and SEAS technical staff to ensure coverage of remaining academic sessions.
    • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement solutions to keep projects on track.
    • Supervise student work study position who provides administrative support to CEDE.
    • Continuously refine and improve Senior Design program processes, documentation, and best practices.
  • 20% - Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for CEDE in communication with students, faculty, staff, industry sponsors, and external partners.
    • Develop and maintain professional relationships with industry partners to support project sponsorship and collaboration.
    • Ensure clear documentation and communication of project requirements and needs.
    • Work with the SEAS Web and Marketing Assistant to develop materials to promote the work of CEDE. 
  • 10% - Budget & Resource Management
    • Oversee the allocation and management of the CEDE budget and individual project budgets, ensuring project teams have necessary funding and resources.
    • Coordinate procurement of materials, equipment, and software required for student projects.
  • 10% - Compliance & Risk Management
    • Ensure all projects comply with university policies, safety regulations, and ethical standards.
    • Work with students and faculty to assess and mitigate potential risks related to intellectual property, safety, and regulatory requirements.
    • Provide guidance on project documentation, confidentiality agreements, and sponsor requirements.
  • 15% - Event Planning & Coordination
    • Organize Senior Design events such as the Design Advisory Board and Senior Design Advisor Onboarding meetings, Project Meet and Greet, project presentation sessions (2 per semester), Senior Design Expo Day, and the Senior Design Banquet.
    • Maintain and publish senior design schedule that includes all common events, due dates for major deliverables, and academic sessions for the academic year.
    • Coordinate logistics for collecting and compiling evaluations from senior design presentations and Senior Deign Expo Day.
    • Promote student projects through internal and external channels, including university marketing and industry outreach.
  • 10% - Other Functions
    • Represent SEAS at various functions
    • Speak to potential SEAS students at admission and orientation events.
    • Assists, when requested, with market and public relations efforts for SEAS.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by Dean and Associate Deans of SEAS.
  • Additional Duties as Assigned by the Department

Educational Requirement:

Bachelor's Degree

Years of Related Experience Requirement:

3 years

In lieu of the educational qualifications, candidates may qualify with equivalent professional experience at a ratio of one year of experience for each year of required education. 

Certifications and/or Licensures:

 

Skills & Abilities:

•Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects with strict deadlines
•Demonstrated interpersonal and teamwork skills
•Proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and Google Workspace
•Experience with basic software for finance, surveys, and business administration

Preferred Qualifications:

•5+ years of experience in a management position
•Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification.
•Professional experience with budget allocation
•Professional experience with legal contracts

Physical & On-Campus Requirements:

In-Office Presence - Ability to work on-site in typical office setting and participate in in-person meetings with colleagues: 5 days/week

The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to offer for this position: $58,000 - $72,100

Pay Range:

Minimum Salary (Non-Exempt): 27.89

Midpoint Salary (Non-Exempt): 34.85

Maximum Salary (Non-Exempt): 41.82
