Job Purpose:
The Computer Science Department at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track Lecturer position for Academic Year 2025-26. We invite skilled teacher-scholars committed to inclusive, equity-minded teaching to join our department, which is committed to undergraduate education. We are looking for a colleague with expertise broadly in one of the areas of systems programming, cybersecurity, and software engineering.
We seek candidates with a demonstrated commitment to excellent undergraduate teaching that promotes welcoming and diverse learning environments. Teaching responsibilities would include courses in intro programming, operating systems, networking, and/or security. Teaching duties are assigned by the chair in consultation with the individual faculty member.
The Department of Computer Science with nine full-time faculty and over 250 majors, offers an ABET-accredited B.S. degree in Computer Science, a B.A. degree in Computer Science, a B.S. degree in Data Science, and (starting in Fall of 2025) a M.S. degree in Data Science and a B.S. degree in Cybersecurity. Gonzaga’s Center for Teaching and Advising provides regular faculty development and education opportunities, including a New Faculty Learning Community program to help welcome and support new faculty throughout their first year at Gonzaga.
Gonzaga, ranked 98th among national universities by U.S. News and World Report, is located on the banks of the Spokane River, a short walk from downtown Spokane. The University is minutes from two medical schools, offering rich opportunities for collaboration. Spokane is near the Selkirk Mountains in Eastern Washington State. Essential Functions:
Minimum Qualifications:
A M.S. in computer science, cybersecurity, software engineering, or related fields completed by July 15, 2025.
Evidence of high-quality computer science teaching/mentorship activity and/or course development at the undergraduate level.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. in computer science, cybersecurity, software engineering, or related fields completed by July 15, 2025.
Evidence of engaging, inclusive teaching practices that include introductory or advanced courses for computer science undergraduate students.
An ability to develop and teach new high-quality courses in one or more areas including systems programming, cybersecurity, and software engineering.
Postdoctoral research or relevant industry experience.
