Job Purpose:

The Program Coordinator in the Office of Sustainability is responsible for administrative and budgeting tasks, such as expense reporting, ordering, and purchasing supplies, and managing work schedules, tasks and projects of student employees. The Program Coordinator supports the Green Fund as a liaison between the Gonzaga Student Body Association (GSBA), the Director of Sustainability, and the Office of Sustainability. The Program Coordinator attends student club and organization meetings, representing the Office of Sustainability at campus and community events, as well as supporting ways that sustainability stakeholders can work towards the common goal of caring for our common home. This position assists in campus-wide sustainability assessments and planning efforts such as the completion of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) Sustainability Tracking Assessment Rating System (STARS) and the Sustainability and Climate Action Plan (SCAP).

Essential Functions:

  • 20% - Administrative Support
    • Maintain office functions including staffing schedules, student work plans, managing office communications, stocking supplies, etc.
    • Ensure that the Office of Sustainability is staffed and open daily, coordinating all daily functions and services.
    • Meet operational targets, develop innovative solutions, and continuously improve department and operational efforts.
    • Allocate and manage operational, programmatic, financial and human resources efficiently and effectively for the Office of Sustainability in alignment with DEI values that prioritize sustainability and the advancement of underrepresented/marginalized communities.
    • Sit on committees as deemed necessary by supervisor.
  • 20% - Assessment & Reporting
    • Assist in preparing annual reports for the Division of Student Affairs.
    • Support the three year reporting cycle of the AASHE STARS report.
    • Support campus-wide assessments that include greenhouse gas emissions reporting, waste reduction efforts, Salmon Safe certification, and other operational and sustainability projects.
    • Support campus engagement of commute trip reduction programs and reporting results.
    • Assist with completion of departmental strategic plan initiatives.
  • 20% - Student Engagement
    • Serve as a staff advisor to the GSBA Sustainability Director and support the administration of the Gonzaga Green Fund.
    • Meet with student leaders on a regular basis and support their sustainability efforts.
    • Create regular opportunities for student and campus sustainability leaders connect in community.
    • Foster a welcoming environment in the Office of Sustainability that is inclusive of intersecting social identities, including underrepresented and allies.
    • Encourage and develop the leadership potential and sense of belonging of all students, including those who do not hold a formal leadership position. 
  • 20% - Student Supervision
    • Assist with recruiting, training, and supervising paid Student Assistants.
    • Coordinate work schedules and approve time sheets.
    • Meet regularly with all direct reports, and manage performance on an ongoing basis throughout the year.
    • Create and ensure opportunities for team development through multiple mechanisms and support recognition efforts that build morale.
    • Practice culturally responsive supervision, offering regular feedback via standing individual/staff meetings check-ins. 
  • 20% - Budget Administration
    • Steward all resources, including budget, effectively and appropriately.
    • Submit monthly expense reports for all office expenditures.
    • Maintain accurate reports of current spending and budget forecasts. 
  • Additional Duties as Assigned by the Department

Educational Requirement:

Bachelor's Degree

Years of Related Experience Requirement:

<1 year

In lieu of the educational qualifications, candidates may qualify with equivalent professional experience at a ratio of one year of experience for each year of required education.

High analytical capability, with ability to identify issues, compare data, and resolve discrepancies.
Ability to work flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Combination of relevant experience and Associate’s degree can substitute for Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated knowledge of budget management.
Familiarity of and appreciation for Jesuit higher education.

The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to offer for this position: $20.00 to $21.87 per hour

Pay Range:

Minimum Salary (Non-Exempt): 20

Midpoint Salary (Non-Exempt): 23.75

Maximum Salary (Non-Exempt): 27.46
