Job Purpose:

Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, is seeking an adjunct faculty member in the School of Law. The successful candidate will have the enthusiasm, classroom presence and skills to engage students and should be committed to pursuing excellence in teaching and promoting an inclusive learning environment. The successful candidate will be fully responsible for course planning, delivering class sessions, creating and collecting assignments, submitting grades, and be available to students for office hours for one hour per week per course (or more if needed depending on the course, program and department). Essential Functions:

  • Prepare, plan and teach assigned courses 
  • Hold office hours (amount determined in consultation with Department Chair)
  • Create and grade assignments, including submitting grades according to established deadlines 

Minimum Qualifications:

Degree in the area of expertise the adjunct is applying to teach in (or a closely related field).

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience teaching in a classroom setting.
Evidence of teaching effectiveness, including the ability to effectively respond to the academic needs of learners from diverse backgrounds.
Experience using classroom strategies and pedagogies to advance equity and inclusion.

 

Physical & On-Campus Requirements:

In-Office Presence - Ability to work on-site in typical office setting and participate in in-person meetings with colleagues: 5 days/week

Standing/Sitting - Ability to remain in a stationary position for a prolonged period: Daily (>75% of time)

Walking - Ability to move about on foot to accomplish tasks: Daily (>75% of time)

Lifting/Carrying - Ability to move or transport objects up to a specified weight: Often (50%-75% of time)

Attention to Detail - Ability to focus on detailed tasks for extended periods: Daily (>75% of time)

Problem-Solving - Ability to identify and resolve issues effectively: Daily (>75% of time)
