Job Purpose:
The Department of Modern Languages and Literature at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, is seeking an instructor to teach the elementary Arabic language sequence using a communicative approach in either an in-person or distance modality. The successful candidate will have the enthusiasm, classroom presence and skills to engage students in their language learning and should be committed to pursuing excellence in teaching and promoting an inclusive learning environment. The successful candidate will be fully responsible for course planning, delivering class sessions, creating and collecting assignments, submitting grades, and be available to students for office hours for one hour per week per course. Essential Functions:
Minimum Qualifications:
-MA in Arabic or related field.
-Experience teaching language and culture in a classroom setting.
-Advanced proficiency in Arabic and English language.
Preferred Qualifications:
-PhD in Arabic or related field.
-Evidence of teaching effectiveness, including the ability to effectively respond to the academic needs of learners from diverse backgrounds.
-Experience using classroom strategies and pedagogies to advance equity and inclusion.
-Experience teaching North American students in an undergraduate classroom setting.
