Job Purpose:

The Department of Educational Leadership and Administration at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, invites applications for its Adjunct Instructor Pool in our Ed.D. program in Educational Leadership. We welcome applications from individuals with a terminal degree in Educational Leadership or a related field.

Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to mentoring and supporting graduate students in developing the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed to effectively serve as PK–12 leaders in diverse and complex school environments. Our program focuses on preparing leaders who can successfully address inequities in schooling resulting from systemic barriers.

Adjunct faculty are responsible for course planning, teaching class sessions, creating and evaluating assignments, submitting grades, and being available to meet with students virtually or in person as needed. Gonzaga University is committed to cultivating an intellectually vibrant and culturally inclusive community for students, faculty, and staff.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare, plan and teach assigned courses
  • Create and evaluate assignments, including submitting grades according to established deadlines
  • Use Canvas to organize the course, communicate with students, collect assignments, and post grades
  • Collaborate with department chair and/or program director on curriculum and key assessments
  • Possible teaching assignments based on need could include:
    • EDLD 701: Framework for Effective Leadership
    • EDLD 702: Culture and Identity
    • EDLD 704: Methods & Instruments for Data Collection
    • EDLD 705: Review of Literature on Problem of Practice
    • EDLD 710: Data Analysis for Problem of Practice
    • EDLD 712: Evidence-based Contribution for Problem of Practice
    • EDLD 713: System-wide Curriculum and Assessment
    • EDLD 715: Organizational Systems Analysis

*This is a pool for the department to draw on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's or doctoral degree in educational field, or related disciplinary field.
  • Ability to work effectively off-site and participate in on-line meetings with colleagues up to 5 days/week using Zoom or other platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability/potential to provide quality educational experiences to a diverse student population of adult learners.
  • Prior teaching experience at the university level.
  • Experience working in a K-12 educational system.

Educational Requirement:

  • Master's or doctoral degree in educational field, or related disciplinary field.
