Job Purpose:

Gonzaga Dance Program seeks to hire an adjunct instructor for the Fall of 2026. This faculty member will prepare and teach a Contemporary dance technique class at the intermediate level that will include attention to body alignment and technique that emphasizes practice and performance and develops creative expression through movement. At this level, students will be asked to investigate a deeper sense of self-expression and explore what is unique about their personal approach to material presented in class.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare and teach contemporary dance technique classes at the intermediate level. - (Essential)
  • Incorporate understanding of history and vocabulary throughout the course. - (Essential)
  • Hold office hours (amount determined in consultation with Department Chair) - (Essential)
  • Provide students with regular feedback on their class performance. - (Essential)
  • Grade written Performance Reflections throughout the semester. - (Essential)
  • Submitting grades according to established deadlines - (Essential)
  • Administer a mid-term and final exam that assesses the students’ knowledge and skill. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications:

- M.F.A. (or equivalent professional experience)
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness, including the ability to effectively respond to the academic needs of learners from diverse backgrounds.
- Evidence of the ability to use effective classroom strategies and pedagogies to advance equity, inclusion, and belonging.
