Recruiting Salary Range: Clinicals - $1,250 per student with the possibility of additional compensation for long-distance travel; Immersion Services - $74 or $90/hour depending on specific assignment

Job Purpose:

The Department of Nursing is seeking adjunct clinical faculty to work with psych mental health nurse practitioner graduate students in their practicum nursing courses. The successful candidate will have the enthusiasm, clinical presence, and practical expertise to engage students in active learning and assessment and should be committed to pursuing excellence in teaching and promoting an inclusive learning environment. Ideal candidates will have experience teaching and mentoring graduate students of all backgrounds, including those who are traditionally underrepresented in Nursing.

Essential Functions:

  • Engage with assigned students in person within clinical practice settings and/or on-campus immersion experiences to support learning and skill development.
  • Observe and assess student performance, including clinical reasoning, application of evidence-based practice, and professional competencies.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to students based on direct observation and evaluation of performance.
  • Evaluate student assignments and clinical/immersion activities in accordance with established grading rubrics and program standards.
  • Collaborate with course faculty and/or preceptors regarding student performance, progression, and any identified challenges.
  • Maintain professional standards consistent with Gonzaga University policies and serve as a representative of Gonzaga’s Department of Nursing.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active and unencumbered Washington state RN and ARNP licensure
  • Active and unencumbered RN and ARNP licensure in state of residence and/or state where performing clinical faculty role.
  • Master of Science in Nursing degree in Psych-Mental Health Nursing
  • ANCC Certification as Psych-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist
  • Minimum of 2 years of current practice as a Psych-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
  • Reside in one of the ten states where graduate nursing students are completing practicum (AK, AZ, CA, ID, MT, NV, OR, UT, WY, WA)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree as Nurse Practitioner
  • Previous clinical teaching experience

In-Office Presence - Ability to work on-site in typical office setting and participate in in-person meetings with colleagues: 5 days/week

Standing/Sitting - Ability to remain in a stationary position for a prolonged period: Daily (>75% of time)

Walking - Ability to move about on foot to accomplish tasks: Daily (>75% of time)

Lifting/Carrying - Ability to move or transport objects up to a specified weight: Often (50%-75% of time)

Attention to Detail - Ability to focus on detailed tasks for extended periods: Daily (>75% of time)

Problem-Solving - Ability to identify and resolve issues effectively: Daily (>75% of time)
